The Italian plumber stood triumphantly as he reached the first castle of World one. Perhaps if Bowser stopped kidnapping the princess, they'd actually get some alone time.
Maybe she likes to get kidnapped...
Mario shook the thought away from his head as he opened the tall gothic doors to gain entrance, then were automatically slammed behind, locking themselves. No escape. What magic Bowser had infused his castle's with in the Mushroom Kingdom Mario had not the slightest clue. The floors were pure stone, smooth, and neatly assorted, upon the edges of these stone platforms was a river of flowing lava, which heat can only be matched with the hottest of days in the Desert World.

This Plumber however was brave, to say the least as he jumped platform-to-platform not even flinching at the undead Koopa's that started to slowly appear. They were of necromancery and unkillable, even as Mario jumped up and landed on it's skull, the bones can only fall over so nonchalently before it started to twitch and attach it's own skeleton together.
Not new to Mario though, as there are worser things. When the World became flat, then things were out of control.

He abandoned the Undead Koopa jumping to another platform skillfully in his brown shoes and immediatly stopped in his place at the sight that was in front of him. Goombas. The lowest class of Bowser's minions.
They were coming out from the floors, walls, and even tha lava itself in mass numbers. It seems as there was whole army hidden inside such a tiny castle.
This wasn't normal. Especially the booming voices that came from nowhere.
"Hey! What'd you do?"
"Relax, I just modded it for a bit of a challnge."

Suddenly they swarmed Mario, the confused plumber, who's reflex was to jump up and squish them like pancakes. But there was too many, Mario even did flips as he traversed through the castle.
Wait a second- Flips? He hasn't done that sort of thing since Bowser kidnapped Peach in her own castle...
"Bullshit! You want this project to fail don't you?"
"Patient is reacting to outside stimuli!"
"Give him the sedative!"
"I am!"
Mario's palms started to burn as a ring of fire circled around the outside of his glove, fireballs forming- but no Fire flower was touched.
"It's not working!"
"Mercer's outside! Wake up the subject!"
As each red fireball made contact with every approaching enemy, they fell over and dissapeared only to have may more in their place.
"What!"
"He's going to kill us! Why else is Mercer here?"
The two scientists looked at each other, a moment of silence ensued before they started to drain the tank, then evacuated the building to flee for their lives.

All of a sudden, the world became black. Dark. No music even played.
Pure blackness.
Mario's eyes widened as his gloved fist made contact with the glass tube he became trapped in, taking a gasp of air and coughed out all the water that was in his lungs. He stepped out of the pod, his wet clothing seemed to dry up instantly as it made contact with the GENTEK labratory floor. There was his red hat on top of a table and his giant hammer right next to it.
A simple note was placed on the table that read:
Welcome to New York City.

"Mama mia." Were the silent words that escaped The Plumber.
