Well this clearly wasn't a drill. Duncan observed as best as he could how Anya operated her grapple and scaled the side of the college dorm. He sighed with reluctance. He really hoped that breakfast would get easier to earn as the semesters went by. Once Anya's hook was released and she had gone calling after the others, he latched his hook onto something protuding by the window, then awkwardly eased himself over the side with various utterances of "Oh god" and "oh shit". For some reason, the drop had seemed less daunting when they'd been considering jumping. At least if he jumped there wouldn't be any surprises...

Even so, he rappeled down to about halfway, and things seemed to be going well, when the hook came loose - having been inadequately latched by Duncan - and he plummeted the rest of the way...aleit not very far but enough to make a head-turning thud.

Hastilly he picked himself up and dusted himself down, looking at anybody who looked at him and mouthing the words "no problem". Picking up the fallen gapple hook and rope, he raveled it up as best as he could, and hobbled after Anya, his backside feeling a little tender.
