Lucas looked confused as he heard Anya shout behind him. "Who th' hell is that; I only saw four freshmen -" He turned around, one boot-heel twisting the grass as he spun, and set his eyes on Anya. He nodded and raised one hand, waving at her. With his other hand, he tapped Kali on the shoulder.

"Anya wants t' catch up with us, let's wait here fer a second," he said simply, then reached down and started to fiddle with the jetpack straps again. At some point he managed to jimmy the release into a working position and the button clicked, releasing the straps and allowing the pack to fall off of him to the ground, where he quickly retrieved it and held it under one arm like a sack of books or something less valuable than a jetpack. He smiled back at Kali and tilted his head at Karl. "An' th' other freshie sounds like he's got a question for you."

He looked longingly at the cafe, then back at Karl and Kali, and then over at Anya and Duncan. "You want me t' find y'all a seat and save it fer y'all? Like I said -" he smiled and winked at the red-headed scientist - "I owe y'all breakfast anyhow."
