Derek was taken back by the unexpected blow from Jason. Like all other tournament fighters, he was taught to embrace pain. Recognizing the boy's face, he excitedly welcomed the challenge.
" So your back for more eh? " Derek grinned.
With a swift motion of his wand, gale winds knocked Jason back across the room.
" Hey! New kid! " Basil shouted at Jason. " Stay out of this. You don't know who your dealing with! "
In his heart, Basil knew that Derek was a force to be reckoned with. He had trained with him since their first years. Both knew the physical and mental hardships they had endured in order to become mages who faced combat head-on. Most of all, Basil knew how much Derek enjoyed causing pain to his opponents. In the arena, he was merciless.
Before Derek could have a chance to deliver a lethal blow to Jason, Basil knew what to do.
With a wave of his wand, A flurry of granite shards from the floor tiles lunged themselves at Derek.
The latter defended himself effortlessly. A windy cyclone had surrounded him and deflected the missiles.
" Come on Basil! " Derek challenged him. " We're not having a tea party? "
Derek unleashed lethal gale winds towards him. Winds that 'gyrate' in a repetitive motion towards an opponent. Fast enough to cut through skin, flesh, and bone.
Basil defended himself in the knick of time. An earthen wall had leaped up from the cafeteria floor, guarding Basil from the winds. Shards of floor tile flew across in every direction.
The students in the dining hall were now surrounding the two boys. They cheered and shouted encouragements. Besides, what was more exciting than watching a fight between some of the best students in the school?
