Their swords connected with unbelievable power, Elizabeth felt herself sliding back - but she held her stance. He pulled back and swung again at her throat. Backing away and to the side, she followed through with the momentum of his swing and struck him between his shoulder. With a 'ooph' he collapsed to the ground, and she rested the dull point of her wooden practice sword on the back of his neck.
"I win." I growled, she pulled her sword back and sheathed it. He chuckled. Without another word, Elizabeth went to place the sword back in it's stand. She heard a rustled and turned quickly, putting an arm up to deflect the blow. He rebounded off and she brought her leg up, swinging into a round house kick, hitting him square in the jaw. He tumbled back and she landed with her feet shoulder length apart, her arms up for combat.
"Okay, okay." The boy grunted, and then pouted as he stood, rubbing his jaw.
She turned and left the practice room, heading towards the kitchen in hope of a cup of coffee.
"Elizabeth?" A female voice murmured. She turned and came chest to face with a petite woman. "Please follow me."
Elizabeth nodded and she followed cautiously, her hand hovering above the hidden dagger in her boot.
It was dark at the time, and to add to that, the woman was in a dark cloak, hood over her golden hair. She lead her to a shed like place. A dim glow brightened an otherwise dark night. Elizabeth's lips parted as if she were going to ask something, but she closed them tightly again when the door was opened to reveal the three elders. She was a little shocked, she had never seen them before in person - but she knew it was them. Who else could they be?
All worry and defensiveness melted from her stance and she casually walked into the building. The door was closed softly behind her.
"It is time, Miss. Schara. Please put this blindfold on, and you will know your destiny." A woman said in a strong voice - Ms. Ravencroft.
She obeyed and wrapped the blind fold over her eyes, tying a neat knot at the back. She felt someone touch her shoulder and she shrank away, lips parting in protest. Instead the hand grabbed her wrist lightly, followed by various hushed apologies. It pulled her forwards, towards a warm glow. There was a swish - the curtain - and she was placed against a counter. "Select which calls to you."
Elizabeth didn't really feel anything, what was supposed to call to her? She reached out and ran her fingers over what felt like....eggs. Some were smooth and polished, others cracked and bumpy. One in particular had an interesting texture, it had a bumpy surface with a raised line creating a pattern. It warmed under her hand and she felt something....something she wasn't used to. She picked up the egg gently in both hands, cradling it and stroking it with her thumbs.
There was a soft gasp, and the blindfold was removed. She saw orange lighting shine through her eyes, and then it faded away to her normal brown. Elizabeth looked down at the egg, and then cradled it to her chest.
"Your destiny has been chosen, Ms. Schara. Now go." A man said gesturing towards the door she had entered. Her eyes ran over them, then she bowed her head in thanks, and opened the wooden door. It was raining now, and she shielded the egg as she ran back to her home.
(Didn't mean to make it this long, sorry!)
