She laughed playfully at her brother’s serious expression, giggling at his swiveling ears and darkened eyes. She knew that he was more than a little annoyed that he had lost the little girl, always having a soft spot for lost people like themselves, and she took it upon herself to make him smile again, they would forget the child that had shown them such rudeness after their rescue. Her red hair frothed out from her head, like and aura of red and gold and she moved around with the grace of a cat. She began singing a little thing from the old language, her hips swaying as she moved out before them. She turned light on her feet, dancing backwards as they came closer to the city. Soon it would be daylight and all they had to do was get home before either she or her brother sagged to the floor. Her steps were light and playful on the dusty earth beneath her feet and with childish abandon her lifted her dress to allow her shins to show. All the while she kept her eyes on her brother, watching how his lips twitched up despite himself. She smiled broadly, knowing that as ever she would win, she always did. Their character traits had always complimented each other well; she was playful and light where he was serious and quiet.
“Eu te podo dar amor,
Baby non precisa de min,
eu podo dar a ti toda a noite”
He hummed along despite himself, his voice moving in and out of her own, though not quite in tune it was a sweet thing to here. He watched her fluid movements, trying to find the best place to step in, he did not want to make a fool of himself in the city, but out here it was fine. He saw her step to the left and moved forward confident as ever. He took her hand, swirling her around like they had when young, before they had been abandoned. She moved with such poise that he laughed out loud, breaking the song with his harsh but freeing bark. He spun her one last time, capturing her in his arms and lowering close to the floor without a single on of her hair touching it. They smiled at each other, the best of friends as ever. He pulled her to her feet, swatting her on the rump as they entered the city. He frowned being the last to take the step across, his ears swiveling, he hoped the other girl would be fine.
“Taka, don’t worry so, I don’t think she is far behind us.” She said taking his arm in her own. The city was as bright as ever and she glanced at their companion who had gone mostly silent in their extrovert company. The house was not far from the brake between the city and outer lands, it would be good to get some sleep she thought yawning. She did her best to look tired despite her alertness, her ears twitching for any sign of unrest in the people that covered the streets. Tail twitching in agitation, most of the people were off the streets, it getting so near to sunrise, but this did not bother her, they liked to sleep in the day. The night was best for hunting and playing in whichever form they chose, so they were often awake most of the night and slept away the day. She thought longingly of her bed and a warm bath; for the morning when the would need to look out for a job.
“I know Yuzu, but I don’t want her to become hurt.” He sighed, swiftly falling back into his melancholic attitude. He steered them towards the old house, reaching into his pocket for the keys that were always with him. He trudge up the steps with care and fit the old rusty thing in the door, just as he had expected, the staff though they had gone already, they were in for a shock in the morning. He paused at the door, ushering the woman and closed them in, waiting to see if the girl would be clever and come to them. He would wait for a bit while his sister sorted things out inside, then move inside to join them, locking the door. He slid down the front, landing on his rump and was content to sit for awhile.
