Route 4, Into the WoodsAs Sean and his newly evolved Silcoon continued their search for Pokémon in the dark forest, they heard a rather loud... xylophone? Following his ears, Sean found the source of the noise.
A level 5 Kricketot appeared!
The little bug looked up at Sean and Seanapillar, shaking its head and clanging its antennae, creating the xylophone sound once again, this time as a warning.
Sean returned the stare of the little bug with one of determination, "Lets do this Seanapillar." He said definitely as he unstuck the cocoon. He checked his pokedex for some information on the kriketot and decided that it shouldn't be too difficult.
"Let's hit it with poison sting!" He went straight for an offensive, kriketot had abysmal attack power and shouldn't be able to do too much damage. A stinger shot from just below the eye of the cocoon and flew straight for the little bug.
Kricketot took the Poison Sting, which toppled it over with a melodious clang. The Pokémon looked back angrily at Silcoon, but didn't make any move to attack. It just... stood there.
Sean stared at the pokemon for a while, waiting for it to make a move.
That's funny... Why isn't it attacking back? Sean shrugged it off for now and decided to shoot it again with poison sting.
I wish it would get closer so I could tackle it at least. Sean thought, just slightly bored.
It moved forward toward Seanapillar after taking another Poison Sting without any attempt to dodge whatsoever. Then it suddenly burst into a rage, glowing red and charging Seanapillar! Kricketot had used Bide, allowing it to double the damage it had received and reciprocate it back onto Seanapillar. The Silcoon went flying backwards as the Kricketot slammed its body into it, barely hanging on to consciousness.
Sean's eyes widened at the sudden display of veracity from the cricket pokemon. He ran over to inspect his silcoon, which landed several feet away. The pokemon had sustained quite a bit of damage, but thankfully its defenses kept it, mostly, safe. Still though, they'd need to finish this quickly. "Seanapillar, are you okay?" He asked. In response, the pokemon's red eye glowed and looked determinedly at his opponent, awaiting instruction, "Alright, we can't knock it out, but lets slow it down, String shot!" From the same spot under the eye that the sting came from, a string of goo shot at the kricketot, covering it with a sticky mess, making it hard to move.
Sean, hands trembling slightly, took one of the pokeballs from his waist and expanded it, I can do this, I'm going to catch a pokemon... He exhaled and aimed his ball for the spot between the antennae and threw the pokeball. Sean closed his eyes from the sight.
Kricketot was unable to do anything other than counter attacks that did damage with Bide, so it was but a hapless, defenseless victim to the String Shot. A Pokéball came soon after, hitting it right between the eyes. His eyes, closed Sean listened for the click! that meant it had been captured. After what felt like an eternity of silence...

Cautiously, Sean opened one eye and was elated. Sitting where the kricketot had been was a red and white pokeball. Sean briskly walked over and picked it up, “Ahhhhhhhh!” He squeeled, “I caught a pokemon, I caught a pokemon...” Sean celebrated his victory with a dance very similar to the one seen in the Battle Club.
“I just caught my first pokemon!” There was no containing his joy, “I... just... Aaaahhhhh!” The only thing he'd ever actually caught was a caterpie. Even that memory didn't phase Sean too much as he strutted over to collect his injured silcoon. “Come on Seanapillar,” he said merrily, “Let's heal up our new friend.”
Adinitium City, En Route to PokecenterAbsolutely beaming, Sean strolled merrily into town. Because he was so caught up in the excitement of his first catch, Sean didn't realize his hunger until he stepped through the sliding doors of the pokecenter and smelt the fumes coming from the cafeteria. His stomach let out an immediate and very audible growl. He walked up to the counter, “Hi nurse joy, could you take care of my pokemon? I've been out all day and haven't had a chance to eat.” He smiled nervously as his stomach backed up his statement.
“Of course.” She replied with one of her infinite smiles, “The cafeteria is through that door, and here's a room key for your room upstaires.” She handed him a small card which he pocketed. He said goodbye to Seanapillar and his new friend, then raced off to feed himself.
A while later, Sean stretched out in his bed, wearing his stylish pajamas once more, and yawned, patting his slightly distended stomach. “Today was awesome...” he said quietly, “Tomorrow will be even better.” He promised. Slowly, he drifted into a comfortable sleep filled with cuddly bug pokemon.
