"Yep, that's me, just a big ol' funsucker," Stephen said in an exaggerated tone, complete with hands-waved-over-his-head enthusiasm. Then he straightened his hat (finally, it was starting to bug him) and watched as Professor Jenkins passed out the test. Stephen knew that it was going to end badly right off the starting line; mostly because his mind entirely shut down within the first thirty seconds of the test. Forty five seconds later his brain partially came back online, and he proceeded into the test. He got about halfway with brazen confidence, his mind slowly coming back online, tidbits about the math trickling slowly, slowly into his front brain as he began executing the formulas one by one.
And then he crossed over the midpoint, and his brain broke down. And wouldn't start again. Well, not entirely. Stephen sat staring at the test, waiting for his brain to come back online and spew something,
anything back at him. Unfortunately, what came back at him was a song.
Serena would have to wait a while for her friend to come out of the classroom, mostly due to the fact that The Coasters'
Yakety Yak had infiltrated his head instead of math until the last fifteen minutes of the test, but when he came out he seemed confident. He flopped down onto the bench and put on a mock-sad face when he looked over at Serena. "I done bad," he said, eyes wide and wobbly, lower lip jutting out in his best attempt at a sad-puppy-dog face.
It... Wasn't very good.
