"Aww," Stephen said as Linda rushed out of the room, temporarily setting aside the beautiful view of the now-partially-unclothed Serena (he still couldn't partially comprehend what was happening), "now I feel all guilty."

Removing his corduroy coat carefully as Serena wrapped her arms around him and kissed him on the lips - softly, he noted, no tongue, not intrusive or anything - Stephen smiled as he kissed her back, hoping she didn't mind the few weeks of beard growth. It had been a while since he'd trimmed and his brush-like goatee had driven off many a prospective partner. He realized that he had a pithy remark dreamed up, and it had been good, but his brain had now deserted him, gone to greener pastures, leaving him in a state of bliss. He tossed his coat onto Linda's bed where it sat down in a dejected lump, then he wrapped his arms around Serena's hips and pulled her close, softly kissing her high cheekbones in addition to her wonderfully soft lips. He was thinking about this mystery tattoo Serena had mentioned back at the club; he was genuinely intrigued by this and wanted to see it badly.

Then he realized something, and let out a soft laugh inbetween kisses. "I'm still wearing my hat," he said simply. Sure enough, the bottle-green bowler still rested on top of his head, cocked off to one side at a rakish angle as if it was trying to get a better view of the situation at hand.
