Ryan leaned further towards Fae as she wrapped her arms around him in a gentle hug. It felt nice, but he wanted to scream. He took a paw and began clawing at the dirt to relieve his frustration instead. Dirt got caught up in his claws, but he didn't really mind it. He was focused on the small hole he was making in the yard, and the conversation of the Graywaters.
Why don't you just run away? He thought. Isn't the safety of the three of you more important than your father's wishes? And why will you be hurt when you turn into adults? Ryan had so many questions that would go unanswered. Possibly forever unanswered, and that thought killed him. No, he had to do something. All of the wolves had to do something. Again, he looked to the others and hoped they had some inkling of a plan in their minds. If they didn't, Ryan would surely take things into his own hands. Or paws, in this case. He wouldn't just watch as three of his favorite people in the world faded away.
