Renna HexRenna smoothed down her
dress and adjusted her
mask one last time as she stepped out into the ballroom. She was nervous, her palms were sweaty, and she felt incredibly nauseous. But, she didn’t let anyone else know how she felt, on the outside she was as cool as a cucumber. She held her head high and acted as if she wasn’t nervous at all. Acted as if she wasn’t afraid her fiancée wouldn’t like her, or she wouldn’t like him, and then they’d be forced to wed and her life would be miserable and she’d have to pretend to like him and… “Quit it,” she muttered to herself. There was no point in acting like this. There was nothing she could do to change the situation, and anyhow, she’d come here willingly. She just had to remember, fairytale ending, romance, all would be well. She took one more deep breath and placed a smile on her face.
She watched as one of the other girls wandered over to some chairs and sat down. It was so tempting to join her, to shy away from the crowds, to sit back and wait for her prince to find her, but she couldn’t. She had never been shy before and she wasn’t about to be shy now. Her whole future being based around this night was no reason for her to suddenly go weak at the knees. Renna squared her shoulders and began to look for anyone who seemed, prince like. Her fiancée’s name was Collin Williams. She knew the name, but not the face. She continued to move through the crowds, glancing around for the prince.
“Good god, it could take me years to find him in this crowd.” She whispered to herself.
