Aderia was woken my a sharp shake of the shoulder. Instantly she was up, her hand grabbing hold of the arm that was inches from her body and flipped the person over her bed, smacking him to the ground And she landed on top, twisting his arm behind his back and forcing her weight on top of him. She could hear his squeals of pain and with her free hand, Aderia turned on her lamp. She jumped back and released the man as she realized who it was. Her neighbor, Gunther stood up, shaking his arm out and glared at her sourly. Aderia lowered her head, ashamed. She was always on the defense while she slept. It was never a dull moment in her village.
A smile appeared on her face when she was told of what she was woken up for. Gunther sorely walked from the room giving her time to pack and retrieve her belongings. A bag already packed, Aderia quickly slipped into her black one piece, knee high socks and black boots and grabbed her blade. She attached it to her back and reached for a hair brush to run through her long red hair. Finally, Aderia grabbed hold of her red heart necklace and tied it tightly around her neck.
Aderia slipped out of her house and began to travel to the castle where the prince she was meant to protect awaited. She could feel the adrenaline rushing through her veins and her blood pumping as she was escorted to the tall castle. Before long, she stood before it, eyes travelling over every inch of every corner. She scanned the area, looking for emergency exits or objects that could be useful when aiding the prince and protecting him. She spotted two other girls with similar necklaces and knew that they were guardians, similar to herself. Eyes traveled to the gate where she spotted a line of princes. Red auburn eyes took in their forms, their faces. Immediately they were drawn to the eldest, at least she assumed he was seeing as he was the tallest. He held some form of structure among the group and Aderia felt a small rush when she spotted his eyes. Turning away, her grip fastening on her knapsack, she continued to inspect the land, making sure everything was in order.
