As usual, Amaye sat at attention, jotting down notes during her teacher's lecture. She definitely didn't need them, but what else did she have to occupy her time with? Texting during class would put a bad mark on the almost perfect student's record, as would passing notes, talking, or anything else. Being as quiet and reserved as she was, it wasn't like she would do any of those things anyways. With those cancelled out, just listening to the aging man who was pacing across the front of the room would put her to sleep. So, notes it was. 

When names were called across the intercom, Amaye paid no mind. People got called to the office all the time. It was only when she heard her own name that she snapped to attention. She began to look up at her teacher, but he was already waving her out so that he could continue the class without interruption. Amaye closed her notebook and tossed it into her light blue messenger bag, heaving it onto her shoulder and leaving the room as fast as she was able to. 

Once she made it out into the hallway, she began to wonder exactly why she was called out. The only times she'd been called out were for early track meets, and once for a short vacation she took with her family over the weekend. 

Before she fully reached the principal's office, Amaye saw two others enter it far ahead of her. As she made it to the doorway, she lightly pushed the already ajar door open further. For some reason, the situation in front of her didn't seem odd at all. She gave a slight courteous smile to the principal and the other students before turning to the woman atop the principal's desk. "You called... ma'am?"
