Katsurou sighed and flopped down onto the bed, boredom overtaking him once again. He stared at the blank ceiling of his room, thinking what he should do next. There wasn't much else. He always stayed in his house where he lived alone unless there was a good reason not to, like running out of food. He had a lot of money left over for that, despite not having a job. He was grateful for the corpse of the man who held a small fortune, but he wondered why it wasn't taken along with his life. Eventually, he turned towards the game console lying on his shelf and the large HDTV just next to it. The game console was outdated; the newest one came out just a year ago, but Katsurou enjoyed the previous generation's games far too much. There was even a remake of Nocturne, and there was no way he was letting his favorite game go. He never did finish it on Hard mode...

Before he could rise and turn the game on, his demon Garm entered the room. Katsurou perked up, seeing his canine companion. He seemed especially hyper today, judging by the energetic bound onto the bed next to him. Smiling slightly, Katsurou laid a hand on Garm's head and began stroking behind his ears. Glancing at the clock on the other shelf, Katsurou saw that it was time for their regular sparring match. They needed to keep trained if they were to even participate in the Tamer League like Garm had always wanted. Maybe that was what he came in for. Garm was the quiet type in terms of the telepathy enabled by their bond, so it was sometimes difficult to tell what he was thinking. On the other hand, Katsurou was like an open book to him. Katsurou rolled off the bed, away from Garm, and grabbed the blunted Katzbalger hidden under his bed in the same fluid movement. Garm barked excitedly and followed him downstairs to the back garden.

When they reached the garden, Katsurou drew the magic sword and Garm adopted a defensive stance, tail lashing from side to side in anticipation. Katsurou decided to try something a little different this time, to maybe break his demon's win streak against him. Instead of firing a magic rock at him to take advantage of his elemental weakness as a Lightning-type, he just placed the blunter end of the sword on his shoulder in a casual stance and taunted. Garm snarled in mock outrage and leaped towards him, fangs bared. Katsurou prepared to grab his metal collar and throw him aside, leaving him open for a magic attack, but it didn't happen. Garm fell short and blasted Katsurou with a powerful bolt of electricity. Though he never was affected much by such attacks, having an inexplicable natural resistance to them and Water-types, the force of the bolt and the surprise by the feint sent him staggering back a few steps. He was stunned only momentarily, but it was enough for his opponent to get in a guaranteed hit. He pounced again, this time for real, and pinned him to the ground. They landed heavily, and it took Katsurou a second to realize his demon was at his throat, ready. He had lost again. As Garm stepped off of him and he rose, he saw his tail wagging delightedly and he was grinning widely. Smug little bastard, Katsurou thought to himself with a smile. He picked up the sword he dropped somewhere down the line - it happened so fast he didn't even notice - and readied it again. It was time for round two.

This time, Katsurou was serious.
