Connor stayed quiet as the man reassured him that the wasn't going to be punished. The joke about being eaten wasn't very funny, as Connor was quite scared by the man. But when the man somehow guessed he was 'hunting' he proposed a job to him. Connor's eyes watched as the man patted his pocket, easily hearing the copper coins clinking against each other, restrained in the sack. Connor knew that those coins could get him the food he needed, and he would be doing an honest job for them too! At least... Connor's brows furrowed a little. This man could be tricking him into doing something illegal. It had happened before, but it didn't matter. His motto was that his family came first, country came a close second.
What was surprising was when the man unbuckled the sheath of his sword, and stuck his hand out for him. The job: carry this sword to your home and as soon as you have reached, I will pass you the money. Connor blinked. "You mean, just like that? Carry your sword to my house, and I get paid?" He blinked again. Either he fell across the perfect opportunity or he was dreaming. He slowly grabbed the sword, and smiled proudly. "I will do so with honor, sir!" He said happily, and began to walk towards his house as the man motioned for him to lead the way. He never came across such an amazing opportunity to help some stranger AND get paid at the same time. He felt like he was redeeming himself somehow, but he knew that would never happen.
