Jack Rass seemed to forget about John when Darren spoke, his attention focussing on the more conversational of the pair at once. "I've loved that kind of thing since I was a child. My parents wanted to encourage us; we were so tall and clumsy, it was hard, so they gave us all the opportunities that they could. Dance, gymnastics, karate; it helped. I kept up the dance, I adore it, and Vinny is still really into martial-arts stuff. He boxes, sometimes, but he's a lightweight, so he doesn't take it seriously. He's amazing when it comes to kick-boxing and karate these days, though."
Jack smiled to himself. "He still dances. Not as much as I do, but he knows his way through the steps. We took lessons for years. Showmanship just sort of- clicked. I learned to sing properly on the road with the show. The Melody of a Life Forgotten was my character's number; I've never been more terrified in my life, getting up and singing that song."
