Nudge had been trying to hold the opening in the maze, stop it from changing, when Ash's thoughts hit his mind. He didn't like what he heard, Ash was staying behind. At least that's what it sounded like to him. He didn't like it, Ash was his friend, he didn't want to leave her.

The others had better get there soon though, Nudge couldn't hold out for much longer, and his nose was starting to bleed again. A sign that he was near his limit. But he wouldn't stop, not if it killed him. He had to keep going until the others got out safely.
