Jennifer Williams
(San Francisco Bay Bridge)

Patiently waiting, she rolled her shoulders, conscious of the small bite mark Darius the snake had left; and all the while curiously watching the girl. The distrust and internal argument that she was possibly having fluttered in her eyes, something Jen understood. I wouldn't tell a random stranger the truth in her situation, either. “Yea, but I’m not trying to cause any trouble. I’m not like those people up there” Up there? Oh. Them and me. Jen's eyes widened a little at the sudden transition to disgust that the girl went through, obviously at the destruction her group had done. She couldn't help but feel a little down, no matter what rational thinking would've said otherwise. But I'm glad I was right, so she didn't have a past like ours. It was worth it. “I’m just trying to make sure no one else gets hurt” At least she can still think that way, when none of us can anymore.

By then, Jen was softly smiling, sadly if anything at all. However, just as she was about to reply, a slight shift and crackle of her static gave warning of an attack; apparently by some kind of shadow. Annoying little.. he should've stayed down when he had the chance. By pure instinct and reaction (while momentarily forgetting about Sam), a small crunched-up piece of metal suddenly appeared in her hand; and a split second later a shot of railgun thundered before the body of shadow. But that, as it were, only caught the shadow's counter of dark energy; dissipating that but not the actual minion. Crap. Should've seen that coming. The next moment, Jen found herself falling from the air under the cold torso of the being, taken by almost complete surprise. With the sky turning upside down, she could only think of one quick, mostly painless way out before she could be caught by another shot of darkness.

What a pain. Just as she hit the ground, her clouds overhead shifted over to encompass the attacking shadow, as well as her. The rain, thankfully, had stopped; leaving the storm only to be illuminated by the sudden threads of lightning. Well, then. It's only been a day since I tried this. Jen wrestled her body for half a second, praying she not stay winded as she forced her hands to face upwards at the creature (ignoring a new sharp, laced pain in her arm's side); and, without any more delays, called down a pure white bolt from the sky. And it answered with a sharp arc before crashing into the being's back, and her as well. The merit of being able to control Lightning is how much of a good conductor you end up being. As the volts ran through her, she redirected it's course back upwards; rebounding the remaining energy back at the shadow, which dispersed at the second shot of her element.

Jen took a deep breath before getting up, in doing so finally remembered her earlier conversation, as well as a wave of harsher pain from her right forearm. She winced, but didn't take the liberty to check it; instead looking for the girl. I've been in worse situations, really. Suck it up. It didn't take long to find the elementalist since, well, she hadn't moved; and a sense of relief flooded Jen's mind for the smallest of moments, then quickly morphed into half rage. She was getting annoyed at the shadows, and the seemingly uncivilized idiot that controlled them. Can't even have a decent conversation. He'll get it later. With her frustration easily seen flashing in her eyes, Jen took only milliseconds to run lightning to it's side (which is to the right of Sam, so she won't get hit); with her uninjured arm's hand lightly holding up a simple, small rock to it's head. This time, it took only one, point-blank blast of railgun before it, too, dissipated.

Now, with the adrenaline that came always with danger running low, she started to feel the sting and dull throbs of an impaled object far more than before. But I've still been in worse. Really. A small wave of exhaustion, as well, hit, causing her to sway a little on the spot, before Jen's breathing regulated to the normal. She smiled at Sam, still haven't yet checked her arm. "I think we're good. For the moment. All you have to do is hit a little harder." Dangit, Maxi, you better hold him off. What the hell have you been doing? Now, with the moment's (hopefully) peace, she brought her eyes down to her right injury. A sharp, palm-sized piece of metal shrapnel had embedded itself halfway into her forearm, through her shirt and all. Funny how I don't notice that I conveniently landed in a car's deformed corpse, and took all the weight on my arm. Without a moment's delay, a pair of scissors appear in her remaining hand; which cut the bloody strip of sleeve off, isolating the rest with the shrapnel before disappearing.

I hope Chishio can do something about this... Sighing, Jen lifted her arm up as she'd done so often before; taking a shirt from her storage to apply pressure on it, all the while perfectly calm. The thundercloud rumbled audibly overhead, still there now to strike down any more interruptions shadows could give. Then, as if nothing had happened at all, she lifted her head and smiled at her companion. "So, you're Fire? I'm Lightning." She shifted her weight, now holding her injured arm up as a small stream of blood ran down from the impaled piece of shirt. "I know you don't want people to get hurt, but it's not always avoidable. And trouble tends to find you." Jen's tone of voice remained friendly, still, without the notion of sudden attack.
