Sid's eyes grew wide as every gnome in the yard slowly turned his way after incinerating the squirrel. Squeaking, he ducked behind the fence, a laser shooting through it not a second later just centimeters from his head. "Eep..!" Staying crouched, he kept behind the fence and scurried across the sidewalk to hastily pass by the house. Lasers riddled the fence with holes as they fired after him, but after he made it past they stopped and Sid stood unscathed. He turned to face the house, scowling. "THE SIDEWALK ISN'T YOUR PROPERTY, DICK-GNOMES!"

He blinked then, meeting the gaze of a violet-haired girl who was staring at him from the sidewalk before Zim's house. As if to rationalize the lasers, Sid opened his mouth with the idea of blurting out that the kid who lived there was an alien, but he stopped. His peers already thought he was crazy - but the dangerous kind of crazy, not the kind of crazy that got you picked on like Dib Membrane.

Although, come to think of it, Sid had never seen this girl before. She looked like she was on her way to Skool, with a backpack and all. Sid's curious expression dissipated into a faint scowl. "What the hell are you lookin' at?" Best to make a desirable first impression; he didn't want to give the girl the idea he was some malleable, empty-headed imbecile like most of the kids at Skool.
