It was such a dreadful sight, his sprite and lively spouse to be reduced to such a pitiable state in their bed, as he stepped through the door of the former apartment. He chose not to announce himself as she usually did, not knowing whether she lay asleep or if he would startle her, and quickly made his way inside, setting his beret on the counter absent-mindedly as he quickly removed the purely aesthetic waistbelt of his uniform, tossing it aside as his legs made short the trip to her side. With a hushed sigh he looked to her, his expressions drawn on his face as he did. He never knew that her people took so poorly to disease, and such a thing would be good to remember in the future.
Quietly he knelt down beside her, careful not to disturb with any of the equipment or materials that were employed to help her recover, and after a moment or two more of observation he placed his hand on hers, squeezing her fingers lightly as he offered her a soft smile, "I'm back."
