It took Serenade a little while to fully wake herself up. She had been tossing and turning, and she couldn't sleep more than an hour at a time. She slowly got up, splashing her face with cold water to help get her awake. β€œYou can't do anything asleep, you know.” She spoke to her self, continuing to splash water until she was satisfied she was awake. From there, she got dressed, doing all of this methodically. She chose her simple white one piece dress, tied her hair, and had breakfast.

Chances were, her parents were already downstairs setting up shop for the day, and would require her help At night, she was going to play the harp for everyone: a new song she had been learning for a while now, and she was only just satisfied with it to share it with everyone. Following that would come a merry tune from her Ocarina, to help everyone dance and enjoy themselves.

One hour later, she put on an apron, and took over the care of the store, her parents going off to hunt for some food. She opened to door, paying an errand boy, and reciving a crate of potions. She hummed a slight tune as she set to put the potions in their proper shelves.

There was a doorbell ringing, and Serenade turned her head, β€œWelcome! How may I … help... you...” She said, as a cloacked figure walked through the door. Without warning, he picked her up. She screamed in surprised, kicked, and was hit in the back of the head....

Serenade jumped out of bed, her heart pounding against her chest with the force of a battering ram, and her sweat was cold. β€œWhat on earth... was THAT? β€œ She took a few deep breaths to calm her self, though it certainly wasn't easy to do so. She drunk some milk, and clutched her chest, β€œ Talk about a nightmare!”

Still restless, she reached over to her small, portable lute, closed her eyes, and played a small tune, etched with emotion as only she could do. It was sad... it made her think of her days gone bye, of those who had died in her life time. When she finished, she took a deep breath, no longer panicking.

Her eyes caught the dawn, β€œSo, I woke up at my normal time.... well, I guess there's no point in lingering over a nightmare. Time to get to work!”

An hour later, she began stocking the shelves as she normally did. The door opened, revealing a villager, β€œWelcome? What can I get for you?... A red potion? Is your husband sick again?” She sighed, ,”I'll charge you half. That'll be 35 rupees, and here's a small viall of green medicine, as a get well soon gift from me. Do take care!” She said, watching the old villager leave.

It continued in this manner until around noon, where her shift here was through. Sh took off her apron, set it on a rack, and walked outside, heading for the archery range. She opened the door, β€œI'm here... so go take a nap, okay? You're getting to old to sit here all day.”

The archery master shrugged, going to a bed nearby, knowing it was useless to argue. For the next hour, she helped clean the area, making it look more presentable, and ran the game for a customer. Once he left, she set it back up, took her pay, a blue rupee ( she would have refused more), and walked outside. β€œI might be able to get that Lute I've had my eye on soon... it looks and sounds so pretty!” She said, remembering the Lute she had seen at the shop across from her.

Along the way, her eyes caught two children, with a crook and bags over their arms, β€œAre you sure about this brother? Won't mom and dad be sad?”

The other one replied, β€œIf I stay here, they'll have to spend more money to feed me... I'm going away for everyone... but you shouldn't have to leave, brother. They'll be sad if we both leave.

β€œIf you go on you're own, you'll die. Our parents will be able to save more...” He stopped talking as Serenade drew near, and keeled down to where she was their height, and looked at them. β€œ

You two are such good kids, willing to sacrifice yourselves... but, it would break my heart to see a mother and father crying because their child left them for their sake. Here.” She said, handing not only the blue ruppee, but two red rupees she had been saving, for a total of 45, β€œTake them. These should buy you food and drink for a week or two.” She ruffled one of their heads, got up, and headed back to the shop.

Across from her was another shop, and in it's window the lute she so desired. There was gold dust along the wood, Witch seemed to be an Ivory of sort, though she couldn't tell. The strings were resilient, and properly tuned. She had been able to play a small melody on, and it was music to her ears.. with meant it was expensive. She figured that, when she got it it, she would hand down her lute to someone who desired to learn how to play. Leave nothing wasted.

She peaked into her wallet, and let out a sigh, β€œI'm glad I helped... but now I'm down to 10 ruppess.... that lute is 130... well, complaining is useless. I'll just have to do as I always do.”

She looked at the lute, and clenched her fist, β€œI'm not going to give up!” She nodded, and laid down on a bench, staring up at the clouds, and, unless she had a good reason, wouldn't budge she would have played a tune, but she was going to do it at night, in front of the well. She so loved the smiles and tears she invoked with her music.
