As much as the older Shiekah hated to admit it, it wasn’t hard to see why Impa had chose the young and boisterous Rala el’ Cadora to serve as the Apprentice of Shadow and eventually replace her as a guardian of the Kingdom of Hyrule. It also wasn’t hard for just about anyone in Karariko to know that Aliah had never really forgotten that even though her own place as the Apprentice of Light was more than enough reason for the older of the two girls to feel good about the world. Then again, anyone that knew Aliah knew that good was never really good enough. The girl was always pressing for more. Harder, better, faster, stronger.

Shadow and Light. Could anyone really expect them to work together? Well, Rauru and Impa certainly did.

The leaping form out of the shadows took Aliah by just enough surprise that she wasn’t able to steady herself before Rala crashed into her and drove both of them to the ground. As soon as the shock of the ambush was replaced by nature instinct, Aliah used the momentum of both girls falling to the ground and kicked her own free legs into the air in the same direction, resulting in the two doing a complete flip on the ground until Aliah rested on top of Rala with the younger girl’s arms pinned to the ground temporarily.

“You managed to sneak up on me,” Aliah said with the hinted trappings of a grin beginning to play on the corner of her lips. “I hope you realize that I’m going to get you back for that.” Sliding off and climbing up to her feet, the girl fetched the last of her supplies from the saddlebag and stared back up the path to Death Mountain, the one that had just carried her home.

“Not much going on up there today. Just like every day. I’m starting to thinking that all this training is just a way for them to keep up busy and out of their hair,” she sighed. What she wouldn’t give for some real action.
