Rala struggled as her older friend flipped her over, laughing to make up for holding it in. She had so much fun when she was able to surprise Aliah. She was always a good sport about it, and she didn't just laugh and walk away. She played Rala's game, providing an actual fight to win. As much as they did get along though, Rala knew there was some jealousy behind Aliah's mask of friendship. Sure they were peaceful and got along, but Impa had told Rala that Aliah was the first in line for the apprentice of shadow. If she was in that position and a younger, orphaned Sheikah had taken her place, she would be a little upset too.

Rala sat up as Aliah stood up, gathering the rest of her things from her mount. She crossed her legs and leaned back on her hands, eyes closed and face up towards the warm sun. As much as she liked night and the darkness it brought, she loved the warmth of the fireball in the sky. It didn't exactly help her out with her apprenticeship--it was more of a burden, lighting the world--but it was still nice.

When she opened her eyes again, she followed Aliah's gaze up the looming mountain in the distance and listened to her speak. "Did Rauru have you on patrol? That's better than my job. Impa just keeps me sitting around all day, 'concentrating on finding the aura of the princess.' It's so boring, and I don't see any point! If the princess was reincarnated by now, wouldn't we feel her already?" she blinked and swallowed. She almost felt abandoned by Zelda and Link even though she had never met either and was sworn to serve and protect the princess no matter what. And she also felt so sorry for Impa. The old sage loved that girl and cared for her in a way much deeper and older than Rala. Even though she acted strong, Rala knew how much it hurt her that she wasn't able to be there, to protect her from the sickness of death. Impa blamed herself.
