Hayato, in the process of boiling water for soup, stiffened as they heard a knock at the door, glancing over at Beline, who remained happily oblivious as she washed the vegetables. He sighed, wishing he could be clueless and happy like her, but then who would protect them?

He regarded the man who came in rather skeptically. The man - or rather boy, really - didn't really look like he was going to attack them, and Hayato had a knife in his hand, so he decided he didn't need to impale the boy right there, no questions asked.
