By the time Ren arrived, there was already laundry hanging out to dry in the warm afternoon air and Journie was shirtless in the sunlight, pulling more damp clothes out of a laundry basket to hang up with simple clothes pins on the ordinary string line.

Zaurillis stood inside the house, all the windows open to the breeze and the doors propped open as he moved a frying pan around on the stove, calmly keeping an eye on the pots he had bubbling. He wore mage robes, but of lightweight fabric and simple design. The fabric was laceworked in places, leaving his back, forearms and some of his chest open to the air. Pale lettering in an ancient language could be seen tattooed in patterns across his back.

Ren's leviathan caused nothing more than a curious glance at the water, and Journie waved with a smile, sending up a small shower of magic sparks, just color, as greeting to the newcomer.
