He seemed agitated though, perhaps more so than she'd thought likely for someone who had heard her own predicament.

At the last he leaned forward. “I may know somebody who could help you. And if not, I'll find a way to get you out of here. I want to get home and I think you can help me do that. I'll do whatever it takes to make this happen."

The rest of the conversation was a hasty, loud dismissal designed to be overheard. She nodded to him regally as he left, and then returned to her patients, deep in thought. Clearly he knew more about the political situation here than she did. What was it he was hiding, or at least nervous about?

Sighing, she got back to work for the time being.
