The subtle remakes of Aaron's race slid over Emmaline's head, her youth and innocents ignorant to the fact that such a creature could ever exist. Of course she had heard of vampires and monsters from childish stories, but as a grown woman such thoughts had long ago been tossed from her mind to make room for practicalities and life's lessons. Although, she often missed the days of youth where she could wonder about such things without the fear of being scolded by her aunt. Perhaps she enjoyed those memories because they were from a time when her parents were still alive, a wound although scabbed by the years that had passed since the incident, could never be closed completely.

She smiled as he questioned her choice of career, her eyes leaving his with a heavy sigh as she looked about the room in sorrowful pleasure. It was a question that she was well accustomed to. Friends often asked why she bothered to work for a woman as bitter as Tabitha while her talent in music could bring her far. She had few answers that others found acceptable, but they were enough for her to live by. "I have little choice," she answered honestly, her soul bounded by heavy morals of right and wrong. "Tabitha may not appear to be the kindest woman, nor would I argue that her soul will ever shine," she paused, chucking as she looked to Tabitha who was now carefully portioning out the meals, careful not to give anyone a portion any bigger than the cent they paid for it with.

She sighed heavily and returned her gaze towards Aaron, a simple smile still warming her face. "When I was younger my parents died in a house fire. Tabitha is the only family I have left. If she hadn't taken me in, I would have been put in an orphanage or left upon the streets. I owe my aunt my life, or at least the life I know it as. I want to leave here one day, perhaps to travel the world for myself and perform my music, but for now I will stay here and repay the debt I owe to Tabitha. It is the least I can do. This old place is like my second home, my grandfather Rose opened it up and handed it down to my mother and Tabitha when they passed away. Mother poured her soul into this place, the Rose Sisters as they were called. If I don't stay for Tabitha, then I am staying for my mother. This place, and this locket, is all I have left of her." Emmaline smiled soothingly, wondering why she had felt to need to pour all of that upon this stranger she had just met. Perhaps it was her desire to know more about him that caused her to reciprocate the action. "Oh, please forgive me Sir Blackmoore, I do tend to ramble some times, feel free to shut me up whenever it becomes a nuisance."
