She moved a little closer to him much to Aaron's pleasure. The feeling was without equal. To have someone else's life in your hands. And he had. If he wanted to kill her, Aaron could do it in a heartbeat.
"Oh?" he asked in surprise, raising his eyebrow when she proclaimed herself an owl of the night. He hadn't expected that, and he was such a good judge of character. "I can see why many might take you for a dove." Aaron said and nodded in thought. She raised her face to the light of the moon, and it seemed like she was radiating the light. As if her soul amplified it. Souls are for humans.. You're not human. he thought and frowned. Whatever he did to hide his emotions, Aaron always felt something reminiscant to pain in his heart. If he had one. Hoping that she hadn't noticed, he quickly regained his composure and stared at her ats she lowered her face when he asked her. Did she see that? His eyes? Apparently not. Thank god. She hugged his arm again and spoke.
"I feel that there is so little known about the night. In the day, the sun reveals all there is to see. But at night, the shadows come out to play with our minds and fears. Take this street for example, I walk it every day to go to the tavern and I feel safe and sound. But once the moon rises, it is as if the street has changed completely. It is exciting, not knowing what may lay behind any given ally. Then again, if it were not for you I would also be frightened of what could be out there. Not that I believe in those things," Aaron could follow her and actually understood her point. Little did she know that he was the danger she should hide from. "Although, I must admit I still wonder some days what could be out there." Aaron smiled again, and looked her straight in the eyes.

"Yes, there is something out there that the human race doesn't know of. Or maybe we know of it, but dare not believe it exists." he said and winced at the word 'we' invisibly. He placed a cold hand on hers as if to reassure her of his good will and intent, but smiled on the inside. Yet, Aaron had made a promise. Not tonight. He looked her over and saw as the light of the midnight moon dancing over her dress. A memory struck him.
A ball in Paris. All the importants of the capital and surrounding lands were gathered, and Aaron Blackmoore was there as well. He had danced with several of the French young ladies, and enjoyed himself all evening. His father had been drinking heavily all night, and now decided that he would make a fool out of his son.

"You! Boy!" the big man shouted and came towards Aaron. The boy stood his ground defiantly and held his head up, ready for the punch his dad might throw. "You're no good are you? Have you yet engaged yourself with a girl? Have you educated yourself in any way? You're not a real man, you're a boy. You should stay with the women and learn knitting and tailoring. Stay in the kitchen with your mother, boy.
Aaron had smiled a wicked smile and looked his father straight in the eyes. "Coward," was the only word he said, and his father froze. Everyone in the room gasped and French and English, lords and ladies, nobles and servants had understood that one word. "What did you say!" his father shouted. He came towards him with a knife from the tables. He held it to Aaron's throat, but the young man didn't flinch at all. Men came rushing forward to pull the big man away from him, butas they did, his father flailed and the knife cut Aaron across the eyebrow. It didn't damage his eye, fortunately. But it left a scar.

His hand automatically went up to rub the spot where the knife had cut, and he narrowed his eyes at the memory. "You must tell me when we're at your doorstep," Aaron said as he pulled himself back to the present. "I wouldn't want to steal you... against your will of course."
