Melisande turned and gave the boy with the dragon a look. "You may say that, but does anyone know why we have to become dragon riders, or why there are so many of us?"
She crossed her arms over and turned to face the guards and the King. "I demand to know why you have us here, and exactly why I had to show my birthmark. I didn't like doing it." She stuck her chin out mulishly. She must look so odd, dressed in boy's clothing, yet acting like a spoiled brat. She saw the guards fighting smiles and actually growled at them.
One of them smirked. "Oh, I'm so frightened. What will the little girl do now?"
One of the guards next to him stared. "That's not any girl, that's the Lady Mel-"
Melisande dashed over and bashed both their heads together. "You. I'd advise you not to underestimate me. And you: don't yell to the whole world who I am!"
