He dreamed he was an adult. Standing tall and with a conceited pride he watched as two men cowered before him. Anger coursed through him. It was almost palpable in the air. "You have failed me." he said, a certain finality ringing in his words. "I told you to retrieve the dues owed to me from that scruffy farmer. You didn't. What shall I do with you?" He grinned maliciously, a hand fingering his pet's head. Meito was a densely furred hunting cat, his prized possession. The two men were trembling, despite the fact they had a size advantage over the man who was terrorizing them. "Rip, Meito. Rip." he commanded, pointing at the worthless people kneeling at the foot of his seat. To his surprise the cat didn't obey his order and was instead rooted to the spot. He didn't see but when one of the men looked fearfully into the cat's eyes they saw they were clouded with an occasional flash of clarity and intelligence that was beyond any normal animal's.
With a fluid movement he drew his ornate sword and advanced on his victims, a growl of annoyance in his throat at the fact he had to dispatch of the men himself. What was wrong with Meito? The cat was definitely going to be disciplined after this. Distracted from the task at hand he simply drove the sword through the heart of each man instead of giving them the suffering they deserved. At this Meito blinked, slowly and as if waking from a trance. With a yowl the cat launched herself at her owner. He sidestepped the assault and looked into her eyes, expecting her to cower from his glare. Instead it was he who looked away. In her eyes he saw a human like intelligence and sadness that alarmed him. What had happened to his pet?
"You must not be allowed to do this. You cannot be allowed to have a bloody reign. It is wrong." Meito said in a husky voice that sounded like it was a new muscle being exercised: young and underdeveloped, but filled with raw power. He shrunk back from the intense emotions in the voice. Pain, anger, self-disgust, and most of all love despite the evils of a person. Meito advanced on him and pounced, her mouth closing around his neck in a flurry of rapid movement.
He was dying. Some of his guards came into the room. He belatedly wished he had allowed some in his chamber so they could of helped him handle the unfaithful Meito. In her hoarse, unused voice the cat said, "Lord Liokis is dead. I will now rule in his stead, for I have learned much from being at his side. I will make efforts not to be as cruel as him."
Before a blackness swallowed him up he saw Meito send him a look full of sorrow and regret, but also thanks. The look seemed to say, thank you for ridding yourself of humanity so I was jolted into an intelligent life. When the cat turned back to the guards, they were kneeling before her, astounded by the talking animal.

Kivan knew he had just witnessed the bloody beginning of the creatures that were with every human today.

Kivan woke from his strange dream of the past to a loud noise that was a mixture of something grating and shrieking. He covered his ears in an effort to block the horrible noise. Looking around, he saw Retha had dragged a metal nail that had been holding one of the crates together across the wall. Her ears were clamped to her skull at the unexpected noise. She looked at him sheepishly and said, "Sorry, I just wanted to try to write with this instead so my claws wouldn't stand the chance of dulling. I didn't know the nail would wail like that." The awful noise still ringing in his ears Kivan nodded. "It's alright. Just don't do that again."

When the door was closed rudely on his human Marred wanted to bite the girl. He was about to open the door but Seboro's strong hand grabbed the nape of his neck and dragged him away. "You will treat them well. You hear me?" the human said harshly. "If you respect me you will follow my directions."

Marred slunk off to a different part of the deck, not wanting to face Seboro. Of course I respect you, Seb. That doesn't mean I have to obey you, though. He began planning how he would face the lion, Rajah, in a duel, and being the victor in the fight. He would then eat Rajah, of course. Let that show the lion of long ago what kind of creature he was.

With these fantasies he began to doze. Screaming suddenly pierced his dreams and he woke up. He followed his keen ears to the girl's room. Was she having a nightmare? Marred couldn't stand nightmares himself, although he would never admit it. Most of his were about him and Seboro being seperated forever and never being able to see each other. Or about Seboro hating him. Those were really bad nightmares for Marred knew he could count on Seboro always in real life. He didn't know what he would do without his human sometimes even though he often acted as if he didn't need the human. They were duo-semis. In an old language the phrase meant two halves. If a half is missing its companion they can never be whole.

Marred waited until the screaming stopped. He could hear some movement in the room then settling down. After a couple minutes of waiting he went in the room. Padding quietly up to the bed in which the girl, Isabelle, lay with her creature, he rubbed his face against her leg and said, "I know how nightmares can be scary and hurt terribly. Just remember they are not real unless you chose them to be."

His ears suddenly flattened to his head as a noise that was a cross between a shriek and the grating of nails running down a chalkboard rang out. I thought the two below decks were told to be quiet! He was frozen on the ground for a couple seconds more as he recovered from the noise. He hoped the girl didn't wake up while he was recuperating.

OOC: Sorry this took so long and doesn't have many viewpoints. As you can see, you aren't the only one who has a trouble sometimes (I run out of time too). I also understand writers block.
