Theo Castille

During this time, Theo Castille was sitting on his neat bed, holding a black book in his hands. Flipping through the pages quickly, his blue eyes narrowed as he flipped to that page. Tomorrow was going to be the Mission Impossible event, and he had to brush up on his runic vocabulary. Glancing up slightly, he watched his door warily - it wouldn’t do for anyone to walk in and see him studying. It was so loud too… Theo almost felt like hiding under the covers and covering his ears with the pillow.

Turning his attention back to the book, he stared intently at the rune for Apple. It was a shorter runic passage with its thick-blocked letters. Fine, it wasn’t that useful, but there was no telling what kind of idiocy they would use when choosing the job - for Mission Impossible. Finally, Theo snapped the book shut and with his eyes furrowed in focus, started to trace it in the air.

First, it was a circle counterclockwise, with a horizontal slash going from left to right. After that came a repeated pattern of two almost squares, but rectangles - wider than they were tall. Connect them together with a wave pattern with a single crest before moving on. Now, it was going to get tricky. A perfectly equilateral triangle, before placing a circle carefully inside, making sure that it touched the lines exactly. Writing this one rune too quickly could lead to a mistake, as if the circle was smaller with a line directly through the middle, it became one of the runes that was used in Suffering. The last rune was relatively easy. Another circle, this one smaller than the one from the beginning, and then, a line connected to the bottom, written top to bottom, and then, finally another horizontal line.

There. All complete. He opened the book again and rifled through the pages. Thinking of what he just wrote, he gave another glance at the page, checking to see if he got it right.

“Darn.” he muttered to himself. The second-to-last rune had a thin rectangle at its bottom, which he had completely missed out on. He sighed, before closing the book to practice it just one more time. But it was just so loud outside, as so much of the guild was out there, causing a ruckus. ‘Why was it so noisy today - oh, right, the three month anniversary of their guild… My guild.’

With a sigh, he carefully slid off his bed and hid his dictionary inside a drawer. His room was, as usual, extremely neat with everything placed where it ought to be. Most of his belongings were either black or white, with an air of cold sterility. Finally, he locked it, before slipping the silver key in his pocket. Checking to see if his clothing wasn’t too rumbled, Theo patted out the more obvious creases, before pushing his door open. To see Cassadin wearing a black button-up shirt, probably heading somewhere.

Quietly, Theo followed the similarly-aged fellow mage into the bar. If the noise was bad in his room, then it was infinitely worse here. Theo paused, before taking a glance at the library. Maybe he would go study there instead for now, or something. But still, the noise was far too horrible to allow him to concentrate. Was there somewhere that he could sit, away from the rest of his guild members? They were all so hard at work today - creating a mess, that is. As usual. Catching the sight of a out-of-the-way table, Theo sat down on a brown, wooden chair. Tapping one finger on the table thoughtfully, he pondered the idea of using the Silent spell on everyone nearby. Then, he would be able to concentrate.

He really would have, if only there was some way that he could justify the magic. There were too many mages of the A-rank, and even one of the S-rank mages around - and despite his confidence, silencing them was somewhat of a stupid idea. However, despite the inkling of respect, he crossed his arms in front of him, in preparation. Maybe he’d use it if someone had the gall to approach him and start prattling away.
