Zack felt the need to hold her at that moment, but resisted. He knew she was trying to be strong. He himself was trying to maintain his composure. He flicked the butt of his cigarette on the ground near-by and pulled out another. "Here" he gestured towards the pack as he held it out for Jess.

He understood Jess wanting to abort the child, neither of them were prepared for this sort of thing. He was twenty and she was eighteen, barely an adult.
