Grey nodded, good to know she was happy. Maybe being stuck with a kid at nineteen years old, working, living with big bro wasn't as bad as it seemed in Greyson's head. Maybe she made the best of the situation, and by doing so, and seeing her kid's smile, she got through the day. Then again, this was the real world, not a novel, where everything works out and the moral of the story is set in black and white. Every question ends up answered and you never want the story to end because you want to stay wrapped up in the characters lives forever. 'Cause the character's lives are so much simpler and happier than yours. Grey wondered how Tyler felt about the whole living arrangement. He was sure he was the one to offer Emma and Colby a place to stay, but he was still a man. You cant come home to an empty house and smoke weed, or grab a beer and watch football comfortably with your younger sister and her son there, could you? And that'd be a weird conversation to any girl you brought home; yeah, my younger sister and her baby live in my apartment with me. That had to be cramped.

But family is family, huh? You shouldn't leave anyone out in the cold like that.

She was glad he was happy? Were they both pretending to be grateful for each other's happiness so the other wouldn't see past their walls? It sure felt like it, like they felt obligated to say it back. Did Grey say it at all? He remembered thinking it, but couldn't remember if he'd told her. There was the possibility she assumed he felt the same thing. However, Greyson wasn't even sure what he felt. Either way, he shrugged out a half-hearted, "thanks," and wondered whether or not he deserved to be happy.

"I don't think anyone deserves to be happy," he looked at the random people they were passing by on the street, "You just kinda have it or you dont." He felt it was true. Look at all the shit human beings do to screw up their lives and the lives of those around them. No one really deserved happiness, but it was cool if you could find it on your own. Be it in a hobby, a pet, a party, a drug... a person.

"But, uh, I'm," - how was he suppost to word this? - "I think you're a pretty good person for sticking through all that. Raising Colby by yourself and working, and stuff, and finding ways to be happy despite that." He paused. "Not that kids don't bring you happiness or whatever. You know what I'm getting at."
