The bridge that led to the Satomi House wasn’t as crowded as it had been that morning. When Nobutoshi realized that he could hear his own thoughts, he noticed that Angel was no longer talking. She had become silent.

He felt her sit on his head, which only made him raise his snout instinctually. His head turned left and right as though he were trying to see her before it lowered back down.

“You’re quiet,” Nobutoshi noted. He had only just met the Chihuahua and he thought it was unusual.
