Zephyr found it very easy to read and walk at the same time. While most people might stumble on an unseen displacement in the ground or bump into a passerby, Zephyr could was versed well enough to sense where people were and make adjustments as he walked. He was reviewing the written reports on the selected guardians again, making sure he had not missed anything crucial and once again alleviating himself of the stress that any of these guardians might be a spy or assassin of some sort. Lord knew they had seen enough of those lately. Just last night the there had been another one. Zephyr had besseched the King to allow him to give him more guards but the King told him to wait for the guardians to arrive. Zephyr sighed to himself. At least they would be arriving today.
Zephyr glanced up from his book to take in his surroundings. He could walk and read at the same time but sometimes he could lose his way in thought. He was at the entrance to the garden. He instantly made out the King with his wife standing in the sun admiring the day. Zephyr closed his notes and went to join them, giving a short bow as he approached the two. "Good Morning Your Majesty, my Lady, is it not one of the most beautiful days you have seen this year? A perfect day for us to greet your new guardians, I must say."
Claire approached the castle slowly. She had never been here before. This was all new to her, she hadn't even expected the King to pick her as one the the guardians. But he had and she was here, there was no turning back and no running away. She had decided to do this and nothing was going to change her mind now. Claire started up the steps taking in her surroundings again. The guards stepped foward and stopped her. "May we see your letter Ma'am?" said one. They were being more formal than she expected but she saw some fear in thier eyes so someone must have scared them into proper behavior. Clair handed her letter to the asking guard. He let her pass and she climbed the rest of the stairs.
The inside of the castle was well-lit and there was ornamentation everywhere. She smiled slightly at it but held it for but a moment as she thought on how such fancy things were never in her life. She had never been necessairly poor but all this was a luxury to her and it bothered her slightly. She said a small prayer to herself asking the Goddess to bless those less fortunate and moved on. She noticed a group of different people ahead of her and guessed by the many manners in which they dressed that they must have been other guardians. She increased her pace a bit to join them but did not say anything. They could talk later, she wasn't musch concerned with idle chit-chat when the King was expecting to see them. She moved with the group crossing her arms and just tried to blend in.
