"I'm Ginger." accompanied by "Massera sounds a bit familiar, you wouldn't happen to be famous would you?" Were the first words he really heard. The first phrase from her mouth escaped his notice as his asking her seemed more a pretentious formality to him rather than a sincere question.
He was in the middle of his reply, raising his hand slightly off the counter as he spoke when she was suddenly whisked away by what Jimmy could only assume were friends of hers.
He had all but figured her gone and took a sip from his drink, afterwards he pulled a cigarette from a sterling silver case.
Tapping the butt of it on the case, he had just popped the cylinder in his mouth when she returned stating "Sorry. I appreciate the drink though."
He gave a quick and silent nod in her direction but he figured she never saw it as she seemed to turn away so quickly.
After a quick shrug of his shoulders he smirked wickedly before saying a bit louder than intended.
"Famous... yeah you could say that."
As he picked up his drink he was tapped on the shoulder and with a quick turn of his head he noticed an old friend of his.

The man greeted him with a warm smile and said cracking his knuckles.
"Jimmy boy-o! How have ya been?!"
Jimmy looked him over sorting his face from the hundreds he knew in the city but it wasn't the face that gave him away.
It was his voice."
Jimmy shook his hand firmly, his eyes widening as he looked at him from the stool saying
"Well I'll be damned!
Sean Rourke what the hell are you doing here huh?
Last I knew you were headed for the can in Ireland."
Sean laughed and countered quickly with
"Jimmy lad ya should never discount Irish tenacity.
Anyway... enough small talk..." he then paused and whispered in Jimmy's ear.
"I've got a job for ya lad.
I got me boat ticket here from a group of lads what said they needed a bit of muscle ta get a lad ta pay what has been stiffing them for a while.
He's inta them for 10k, they need the help, and I figure you more than anyone could use the work.
I got me ticket for free but your end is still 10% up front and another 10 when the job is over."
Jimmy rubbed his chin thoughtfully a moment.
"Rourke 2 grand aint much in the grand scheme of things.
I can make that rolling people not paying their debts in Hell's Kitchen.
You gotta have something more for me than that huh?"
Sean then sighed heavily and drug his fingers across his forehead.
"Fine, fine.. they'll have some weight they'll need moved in a few days.
The stuff is worth 1 mil easy my end is 20% of that.
I need a gunman for the job, take it and I'll split what I get with ya even."
Jimmy watched his face carefully now.
His eyes studying Sean's carefully as he replied with a slow nod.
"100k for me huh?
Still not much but it beats the nothing I've got going now.
Set it up with your friends in the IRA but I'm warning you.
I don't run drugs, I don't mind guns or any of that but I don't do drugs."
His mood then lightened as he said smiling.
"Now get out of here and I'll meet you in the morning.
Get me a name, and an address, I'll take care of the rest."

The rest of his night was spent dodging reporters and waiting to talk to "Fat Joe".
The meeting never happened and instead Jimmy waited on the conference to break up.
It was 2 am now, his cigarette case had long since been empty and his fortitude to keep himself awake was waning.
Finally the bosses emerged, smoking cigars as they stumbled down the stairs.
As they walked to the door Jimmy caught a glimpse of and walked toward Joe.
Joe noticing him waved him forward and with a fatherly arm flopped over Jimmy's shoulder he began to whisper.
"Jimmy I need you to come back here tomorrow.
The asshole that runs this place assured me there'd be no reporters and as you know they're all over this joint.
That's not so bad but they stuck their noses in the conference.
Making a lot of people nervous.
The reporter that tried to snap pictures of us I've promised an interview to.
Down here tomorrow I want you to meet him.
Teach him a lesson Jimmy, don't kill him, just teach him why when we say no we mean just that."
Jimmy nodded and was soon handed a yellow envelope filled with $5,000 cash.
"I know it's not much kid but I need the job and I know you won't give me trouble right?"
What could he say really?
When "Joe the Boss" gives you a task you have two options.
The first is to do as you're told and be compensated, the second is to wind up wearing concrete shoes in a river somewhere.
Or get laid in the foundation of the next building he decided to put up.
Soon after Jimmy hopped into .
After a short ride he found his upscale apartment to crash in.

The next day he rolled out of bed at 10 am.
A message was waiting for him on his phone from Sean.
"Jimmy where the hell are ya?"
The second was "Jimmy get over here lad we've got that thing ta do eh?"
The third and final message consisted of a disgusted tone coupled with the following words.
"It's ta late ta get that thing now ya miserable, ugly monkey.
When ya finally peel ya backside from your pillow call me ya lazy sod."
With his right hand, Jimmy drug it down his face pulling on his eye stretching it a bit as his fingers ran through his hair.
He was in fact feeling the hair of the dog from all the drinking the night before but not as bad as it could have been.
Most people would question how Sean knew their number or found them so quickly but Jimmy knew the tricks and he knew that any information you wanted was available when you wanted it for the right price.
As he went to return Sean's call his phone rang, this time it was Joe.
"Jimmy you've got two hours kid.
Clean up and get to Spinellis."
Jimmy's only response was "Yes sir."
With that he was up from his black, leather couch.
And into his shower, leaving clothes from the night before in his wake.
Today's ensemble would consist of a white suit and pants.
With brown dress shoes and a white fedora hat with a black hat band.
Held in place by a black leather belt and black silk tie.

After a thorough shave and cleaning of his apartment he strolled to his car and rode back toward Spinellis.
It was now 11:30 and Jimmy walked straight into the club like he owned the place.
As he passed the bar he noticed a female in a white GOTV t-shirt with a black eye.
Jimmy stopped in his tracks because while he did not know her this sort of thing always made him angry.
His only words were "Who did this?"
Her only response was about a man, a well dressed, very rich man.
Jimmy said angrily "Where is he?"
She then pointed upstairs to the room he and his friends occupied the night before.
He then took her by her arm practically dragging her up there as he said with a growl in his voice.
"Point him out."
The girl shook her head and this time Jimmy shouted, making the room fall silent.
"Point him out!!!"
Her finger shakily pointed to a man in a white shirt and red tie sitting at the head of the table in the private room.
Jimmy didn't hesitate he walked over to the man and grabbed him by his throat forcing the man up from his chair.
As he shoved him against the wall he said between his teeth to him.
"You see that girl there?
You touch her again or any other woman in this city and I find out about it... I swear I'll wedge a shotgun in your ass and blow that shit you call brains all over the wall.
Now you're going to take you and your friends and get out of here.
Or I can send you through that window.
Make your play."
With that he let the man go and very promptly he and his friends left the club quickly.

Jimmy then walked downstairs as now it was reaching lunch time and close to time for the reporter to arrive.
He stood outside the club once more smoking a cigarette in his suit with black John Lennon style sunglasses on.
He proved however to be late.
Showing up at about 12:45 pm.
As he stepped out of the car Jimmy waved him into a side alley.
The reporter started to open his mouth when Jimmy pinned him against the wall.
"Look you've got pictures of a meeting that took place last night.
I want them, I know you have them with you and if I don't get them I'm going to break your toes one by one with the butt of my pistol.
Now that's going to do two things.
The first is it's really going to make me angry as my suit is going to get bloody and the second it's going to leave you without being able to stalk people to get their pictures for a while.
Now we can make a deal though.
I'll give you 2 grand for the pictures you took and me and my friends will leave you alone.
This is not up for negotiation and you've got 2 seconds to answer."
The man nodded firmly and with a quick trip to his car handed Jimmy over the envelope.
After a long talk about how the mafia did no longer exist he finally let the man go and walked out toward the front of the building where low and behold... the girl from last night?
He then muttered under his breath as he walked toward her taking in a shot of breath spray.
"You gotta be kidding me."
His hands were in his pockets as he walked over to her, taking long strides to his step.
All this time he was thinking of how to approach her without coming off like a despot of some kind.
With a cool smile he stood beside of her and after waiting for her to notice his presence he said with a smile.
"Hi.. I'm sure you don't remember me but... I'm Jimmy, Jimmy Massera. We..."
He paused and stifled a laugh as he continued.
"We almost met in Spinellis last night."
