Sawyer sat as his desk, studying his roll book for that year. He hoped that these would be quiet students, but he doubted it. He never got quiet students. He set the roll book on his desk and stood up, stretching. He hated working this early. He crossed to the door and looked out into the hall. Students milled about, chatting, laughing, doing all the things kids normally did. He yawned. God I hope there's tea in the teacher's lounge, he thought groggily.

He strolled down the hall and up two flights of stairs, humming a section of some random song he had overheard from a student's ipod. He would have confiscated it, but as class had not yet started, he ignored it. He opened the door to the teacher's lounge and went inside. It was empty. He was not surprised by this; it was not unusual for him to be the first one in. He looked at the counter sullenly. There was no tea. He went back into the hall, scolded a couple of teenagers for making out against the door to the teacher's lounge, then went down to the ground floor. Maybe there was tea in the dorms somewhere.
