She just realised that there wasn't really much Caddie could do. There wasn't much she, Billie, could do to remedy the situation. Billie finally came to the conclusion that she might be stuck here forever and end up like Caddie, or Everleigh or any one of the hundreds of poor people looked up in this giant torture chamber. If she had been scared before it paled in comparison to the terror she now felt. Caddie was staring thoughtfully at her face. Billie hurridly smiled, "Don't worry Caddie there's always hope." Though she said this more to comfort herself than Caddie.
