Zach watced as the female was chosen for this year's game. What a shame, she was beautiful. She didn't have the look of a killer and this appearance was only fortified as her younger brother tried to volunteer. Sadly, he was too young and could not do so. It's too bad he couldn't volunteer for her, but he had his parents to look after, and nothing would keep him from that.

By now, he was drifting off. He never bought anything, so his name was only in there once. So, he had virtually no chance in being picked. Though, as if to smack him in the face, fate called in the form of an annoying voice.

"The honor of taking place in this year's hunger games for District 12's male position goes to.....Zachary Conway!" the voice caught his attention. "Please, step up!"

"Well, fuck!" he said in response, though it was under his breath. Promptly moping his way up to the podium, he was "gifted" with the honor of being the next person from his district to die. "Wow, thanks. I can't believe I get to have the honor of dying in a game for the amusement of others!" he said leaking sarcasm. "And the best part? My parents are going to die from a sickness while watching me die! Wow! Gee wiz, that's so awesome!" he took his place next to his fellow victim.

A few kids in the crowd started both laughing and crying. These were mostly his friends and kids that he had protected from bullies, and they loved his humor but at the same time were devastated at the revelation that their friend was going to be pitted in an arena where he was to fight to the death. Zach disliked the looks on their faces, and in an effort to cheer them up, he proclaimed.

"Don't worry. I'll make sure to kick one in the nuts, just for you!" he laughed, though underneath it was his true feelings. Worry.
