Ava shook her head as she picked up her drawings, muttering obscenities under her breath. She suddenly saw Jimmy out of the corner of her eye, helping her pick up her drawings. "Uh...thanks" she said quietly, unsure of what to say. Normally nobody saw her drawings so she wasn't used to any type of commentary. As soon as the sketches were picked up, the boy diverted his attention to his schedule, and Ava was glad. She was definitely glad that she wasn't attracting attention anymore. Just as she was turning around she heard another voice. "Oh, hi." she said, shoving her sketches back into her sketchbook. "I...uh...I'm Ava." she didn't normally stumble on her words, but she was still flustered from everything happening so quickly. "Yeah" she smiled "I have history next, and I don't mind if you walk with me" she looked at his face with a quizzical expression and cautiously asked "Are you alright?" he looked like he had been crying. Then she realized what was going on. A jock walked by pretending to cry and Ava's eyes filled with rage. She approached the jock slowly deliberately displaying rage on her face. He looked confused for a moment then straightened himself up. He backed up a bit and Ava shoved her finger at his chest. "What the HELL gives you the right to treat someone like that?" she yelled. The jock looked dumb founded by the outburst by a normally quiet girl. "Does breaking people down make you feel like a big boy? WELL?!" at this point she was about an inch away from his face. He shook his head slowly but didn't speak. "Oh, so you're just doing it to be a dick? Perfect. That makes you the big man at this school doesn't it? Do all your frat boys look up to you because you do this?" she was speaking calmly now, exuding an air of superiority "I'd be willing to bet that THIS kid" she said, pointing to Dante "Is twice the man and has twice the potential you will EVER have. " that made the jock mad "Look here everyone. The art bitch is homo's new cover girlfriend" Then Ava realized what it was all about. He was homophobic. People started gathering around them and Ava had him right where she wanted him. "Now I understand. You're afraid this one human being will take away your manhood. Are you afraid he's attracted to you?" she made a loud dramatic laugh. The jock didn't know what to say in response. Ava was prepared. She knew all the gossip on this specific jock. "I can guarantee that all the females in this crowd wouldn't touch you. Hell, I'm sure they don't want to come any closer to you than they already are." she practically whispered to him. "You'd be LUCKY if he was attracted to you. HE is a real man. HE knows how to treat another human being." the other females in the crowd nodded their head in agreement. "If I EVER see you talk to him or mock him like that again..." she said, trailing off, refusing to finish the sentence. In an attempt to save his dignity the jock swung at Ava, but she moved swiftly away and knee'd him square in the family jewels and he crumpled. "Point proven" she rolled her eyes and walked back to Dante. "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you. That was certainly not my intention. Shall we?" she said, extending her arm toward him. The crowd that formed around them chattered approvingly of Ava's outburst. She turned to Dante and whispered "It seems as though he won't be bothering you for awhile." she laughed.
