Evangeline opened her eyes slowly, only aware of the fact that it hurt. And oh, did it hurt. Pain rushed through her body, a symphony that sang within her veins. She could feel something cutting into her wrists, and her ankles as well. Looking around, she saw nothing, only heard a dripping sound. Drip, drip, drip...
It was driving her crazy. Somewhere else, someone screamed. Evangeline jerked away, afraid of what she might find in the darkness. "Somebody, help, please, anybody!" she gasped. Twisting and wriggling around, she finally found that the dripping sound came from her. A thick substance fell from her eyes, which was probably blood. Some fell into her mouth, and she tasted the familiar salty tang.
When her eyes got used to the dark, she saw a figure across from her. "Who - who are you?" she asked, not daring to believe that there were others in the same position as her.
