He looked up at her with his icy blue eyes, like stones at the bottom of a slow creek. Through his midnight bangs of hair, he gazed up at the young princess, having learned much abou her from those brief glances into her soul through the cards.

To survive since leaving the wing of his master, to set put and find his destiny, Joker had been selling his talents, as a fool and mage. He would tell stories and jokes, spun fanciful spells and performances, sung songs and presented dances, but his most desired trade was his gift of the cards. Joker held a special bond to the tarot, allowing him to not only read them masterfully, but he spoke how he could unlock the cards' true potential.

To avoid the fact that he was in the king's orchard, a place where no one could just enter, much less a wandering jester. He had scaled the tall stone walls that surrounded it, climbed the trees and ate their fruit. In most countries this could easy be grounds for execution, so Joker simply wanted to lull the young princess to forget he wasn't suppose to be there. Then he could slip away before she called the guards.
