Baileaf sighed, tilting a small container to her mouth and taking a large sip of the liquids it held. Leaning back in her chair, her eyelids fluttered for a moment, as if she were caught in a daze, though she closed them in the end. Releasing a small groan, she opened one dark blue eye, peering around slightly before opening the other and standing up. Bay was still in her small cottage, now standing in the kitchen. It was early morning, maybe 5 o'clock. Glancing out the window, she noticed the sun had yet to rise, keeping the world in it's shadow. She could barely see through the darkness, as trees clouded her vision, blocking out what little moonlight there was.
"Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name..." She hastily mumbled, squeezing her palms together and dropping to the ground. Praying was something she often did. As a small child, she had attended church every now and again with her father and siblings. It was a big deal to him. She would always get squished in the backseat as Saffron and Sage argued, putting her right in the middle. Bay smiled at the thought, remembering it as if it were yesterday.
She scolded herself silently as she stood back up, checking her watch and noticing she had wasted a half of an hour, lost in thought. She moved to the fridge and opened it, reviewing its contents. I should go to town and pick up some food, She thought, grabbing a carton of eggs and plopping them down on the counter. Pulling the skillet from underneath the stove, she greased it with butter and cracked an egg into it.
"Nothing says 'Good Morning' like a nice warm egg, sunny side up." She said cheerfully, taking another sip from her flask and sputtering a cough into the crook of her arm. Her stomach growled and she patted it, "Just wait, impatient tummy. I'll feed you in a moment."
