Alyce carefully walked out along the tightrope, her head high, her eyes closed. She liked to do things like this to keep people on edge, and to calm herself down. She started to hum, then opened her mouth and began to sing a lullabye that she had sung to her brother a few times, years ago. It was haunting, but happy, about a little boy who was lost in the woods, and found his way home with the help of a wolf and a mockingbird. She smiled and sang louder, putting one foot in front of the other as she tip-toed her way across the high-wire.
