Maizhen was stumbling along as best she could. She was using Bohai for support. She tried to mask the pain she was feeling with an emotionless expression on her face, but she was almost sure she was failing. Tetsip was mumbling something about the weather, but she ignored him. Not out of rudeness, she just really didn't want to talk right now. She was looking at the ground as she was walking, and an arrow whizzed by her ear and landed in the ground behind her. Her mind raced. What was happening? They were still being attacked.

"Masami, get on Bohai. Now." She yelled at the girl. She couldn't see Kazuko, she must have ran the opposite way. Mai could feel small breezes from Kazu's attempt to find the attacker. Bohai had gotten Masami onto his back and was running to safety, well as safe as a few large trees could get them. Maizhen was still busy looking for Kazuko when a pair of hands grabbed her from behind. One hand went over her nose and mouth and the pinned her arms to her waste. She tried to scream, out of terror and out of pain from her side. She kicked and squirmed, but only for a moment. The pain in her side was much too strong for her to move anymore. Soon, from lack of oxygen, she passed out.
