Disgusting, scaly, nasty creatures. Ugh. Happy would burn them all if she could. Slice out their eyes like her parents had done to her. Chop them into small pieces, burn each piece up, and pour the ashes into the deepest, darkest part of the ocean, weighed down by a cinder block until it traveled to the very bottom. That's what she would do, had she the means.
But, the imaginary world, though fun, was rarely ever practical. And, in the real world, a crowd was growing. A crowd that had paid to see an Asian freak play with snakes.
Happy crouched in front of the snake basket. At least it was warm outside. The snakes had absorbed enough heat that she could see them. Tentatively, she reached out a hand towards the reptiles. Immediately, the ssss's increased, and one of the snakes faked a lunge towards her. Happy withdrew her hand quickly, before growing angry at both the snakes and herself. "Listen you," she hissed, inaudible to everyone else, "I don't want to do this anymore than you do. But we can do this the easy way, or the hard way, and I highly recommend the easy way, which is to suck up, otherwise we'll both get it, and I can guarantee that you'll get it worse than me. Now, let's try this again..."
Happy wasn't sure if it was the tone of her voice, or if maybe the snakes could actually understand her, but they were a lot more congenial than before. The next second, she was facing the large mass of moving heat that made up the crowd. "Show time, boys," she muttered to the two snakes, back in their baskets. Just don't bite me, she thought a bit desperately as she smiled outwardly. She put the basket on the ground, danced around a bit, before pulling the lid off Almost immediately, the two snakes popped up. She unraveled a handkerchief and waved it from side to side, in front of the snakes. They followed the movement, and she danced accordingly. She had a blindfold over her own eyes, as Mr. Torture had deemed her eyes too disturbing for the public to see--imagine!--and also felt that it amped up the danger factor. Despite the apparent blindness, Happy was watching the two snakes with extreme precision. These two were poisonous. Not enough to kill right away, but still enough to hurt.
