Quickly tapping the keyboard of his laptop, editing files from a few weeks back, Chance glanced at the clock at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. At this moment, his phone began vibrating next to the computer. Reaching for it, he saw that it was from an unknown number. He read the message twice before exiting out of the tab on his laptop and shutting it, moving over to his bed across the room. The limousine will arrive at your address in 15 minutes. He gazed around his bedroom for a long moment, thinking of stuff he should probably have already packed. Eventually, he shrugged to himself and walked over to his closet and searched for an old hoodie of his before sliding it on. He took a deep breath before turning to exit his room, shutting the door behind him.
Walking down the hallway towards the kitchen, Chance passed the unoccupied bathroom mirror. Momentarily stopping to check himself out, he did a quick Elvis impersonation. He raised a single eyebrow and did a sort of jig, pointing at his reflection. "Thank ya; thank ya very much." Nodding approvingly, he continued down the hallway, into the kitchen. He made his way to the refrigerator, reaching into the freezer to retrieve his single travel item: A Milky Way candy bar. Resisting the urge to open it up on the spot, he shoved it in the center pocket of his hoodie and made his way outside.
Chance locked the door behind him before walking down the driveway, onto the sidewalk. He gazed around the small neighborhood, suddenly realizing it would be weeks before he saw this place again. Pondering this for a few seconds, he smirked. Awaiting the limo's arrival, Chance idly shifted the weight from his toes to the heels of his feet, checking both directions of the narrow street every so often. After another minute or so, he saw a lengthy, black vehicle round the corner a few blocks away. As the limo began approaching the front of Chance's house, he remembered someone telling him there was going to be someone else riding with him to the destination. He wondered who it would be, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by the driver's door of the limo opening, and the chauffeur stepping out in front of Chance. He was a short, pudgy man with a long nose. When he spoke, he did so with a nasally, but soft voice. "Mr. Bennet, sir?"
"Mmmmhmm."
"Your belongings, sir?"
Chance tilted his head to the side before realizing what he meant. "Oh." He reached into the pocket of his hoodie and pulled out the candy bar, showing the man. "Right here." The chauffeur blinked at him a few times, obviously attempting to figure out whether Chance was being serious or not. After coming to a conclusion, he responded with a slight cough, "Right, er-- Well, then. Best be on our way." He goes to open the back door and gestures for Chance to enter. He nods in thanks and clambers inside the vehicle. "Wow", he says to himself as he settles into the leather seat, peering around the area. The lighting was blue, tinting everything, including the mini-fridge. Chance immediately helped himself to a Coca-Cola from inside the fridge as he felt the limo begin to move towards its next destination. He glanced out the window, watching as his home left his view, being replaced with the local community, which would eventually be replaced with the highway, which would eventually be replaced with... New York.
