Sage crawled his way out of the van with the others and stepped onto the curb in front of the greyhound bus station. While everyone else, or just Ish, bickered Sage took his time to analyze their surroundings. The mortals were minding their own business, hurrying about the station to find whatever bus they, or their family members, were taking. Only a few seemed to notice the kids, which somewhat surprised Sage. You would think people would find it odd to see four kids not even in their teens walking about a bus station alone. He was sure weirder things happened, but shouldn't at least one of them be concerned by their lack of a chaperone? Or were mortal adults really just that apathetic?
Sage threw his white bag, which he'd taken off for the van ride, over his shoulder and waited briefly for the banter between Lucas and Ish to stop. It did eventually end, but with unexpected results. Lucas gave over the magic shoes to Ish, which Sage could only imagine was a bad idea. Ish was already dangerous enough... And now he could fly... He almost felt bad for those kids at camp who'd earned the mechanic's ire.
Lucas started talking about their quest and his particular role in it, then asked Sage if he missed Yancy academy, continuing to comment on how he'd rather be there, getting picked on rather than being nearly killed.
“I don't miss Yancy at all... Having to play a weak and innocent mortal was pretty boring, and also pretty annoying.. I really wished I could have beaten those guys who picked on us senseless, but I couldn't... Had to watch over you, which really wasn't easy. That school was loaded with monsters, all of which wanted to bite a piece out of you.. Like that Latin teacher Chiron replaced..." Sage shivered at the mention of the latin teacher who'd disappeared a week after the school year had began. He wanted a subject change then, wanting to avoid the questions Lucas would probably want to ask then. "So, which bus is ours? Since everyone's rushing around, I'm guessing some are probably leaving soon."
