Kira stumbled down the cracked sidewalk to this new community. She heard it was a community for the changed. A place where she could belong, but she was afraid. What if it was a trick? What if they worked for the evil people that tried to cut her open and see what made her a "monster"? Or kill her and leave her for the flies in the pile of dead. She wrapped her arms around herself tightly to keep them from shaking. She was going to be strong. She raised her chin up a little and quickened her pace just a bit. She stopped and looked around. It seemed like no one was up yet-
Just as she thought that she spotted a dark figure against the morning sky. She was about to hunker down and hide, but then she shook her head. She was going to confront this person. He could be another changed and this could be the place she dreamed of ever since she heard of it... or it could be a trick. She bit her lip, contemplating her options, and sighed. She would have to do this. She took in a deep breath. Squared her shoulders and walked up to the figure. Her step faltered a bit when she reached him, the fear of him being a survivor crept back up to her mind.
"Is-" her voice cracked and she cleared her throat. Pushing down the fear and holding her chin high again. Staring up at him and trying to look stronger than she felt. "Is this the place for people... like me?" she asked. Kira lifted her sleeve to show the marking running up her for arm and that crawled into her sweater and down her back.
