Outside at the back of the cafe the dog leaned casually against the brick wall, one foot propped up behind him as he enjoyed a quick smoke. Smart phone out, scrolling through pictures of a party he'd been to last week, uploaded to a friend's account. Don't remember that, he thought. Oh, yeah, that I remember, as the next one brought a smile to his lips. His phone buzzed as a text came up -- a number he didn't recognize.

Sean frowned. He infrequently worked for a liquor vendor to demo product at bars, restaurants, chain stores -- a good way to pick up a few bucks here and there provided you could live on 8-12 hours a week. He found the job a breeze and could afford the few hours on offer -- not to mention that generally his coworkers were attractive college girls from Sunny U. Still, he'd never seen a shift that late. "I gotta head out!" he added before slipping into the break room to punch out and strip off the apron, which he threw on top of the lockers. As he left the room the apron fell to the floor, perfect symbolism for the dog's tumultuous nature.
